The annual Melbourne Cup in November is run over 3.2km. It is known as “the race that stops a nation” with more than 100,000 annual attendees.

The Everest

The Everest was first run in 2017. It is Australia’s richest race, with prize money of $10 million. Entrants purchase a berth in the race and either race their own horse or negotiate with other owners to enter their horses.

Queen Elizabeth Stakes

The Queen Elizabeth Stakes, held at Randwick, is the most expensive weight-for-age race in Australia with prize money of $4 million. Well-known racehorse Winx​ won the Queen Elizabeth Stakes in 2017.
